Shooting in Northwest Portland: One Dead, One Injured
Gunfire erupts Friday night at 17th and Irving
Portland, Oregon - A shooting in the Northwest District Neighborhood late Friday night has left one person dead and another injured. The incident occurred at 11:23 p.m. on April 28, 2023, near the intersection of Northwest 17th Avenue and Northwest Irving Street.
Central Precinct officers swiftly responded to reports of the shooting and found two victims at the scene, a male and a female. Despite officers' efforts to administer trauma first aid and CPR, the male victim succumbed to his life-threatening injuries. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel also attempted to provide additional life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The female victim was transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The suspect or suspects involved in the shooting fled the scene before police arrived, and no arrests have been made thus far. The Portland Police Homicide Unit Detectives have taken over the investigation and are gathering evidence.
